Crowd source: How do we move the food? Thousands o Crowd source: How do we move the food? Thousands of gallons of milk dumped per day, crops plowed under, eggs smashed. Thanks to Covid 19 farmers in the US who previously sold their products to restaurants and hotels are having to plow under crops or abandon their harvest. I want your most imaginative innovative ideas on how we can move the food to where it needs to go... The usual buyers aren't there and the supply chain isn't redirecting efficiently. Meanwhile families go hungry and people are out of work. There are issues of course...not enough workers to process food - from harvesting to transport to canning/packaging. And let's be honest, lots of the types of food produced for restaurants may not transfer for the average family (microgreens anybody?) BUT… for the past 6 weeks we’ve been reactive. How do we get proactive? I want ideas. No matter how crazy...think Berlin Airlift, to a socially distanced human wagon train to droids...What can be done? Many restaurants and hotels wont be buying in quantity this summer even in a best case scenario and most of those crops are already planted. How do we get the food to the people who need it the most? How do we get the farmers paid? What are your thoughts?
